FOX & HOUND TRACING KIT
The Triplett 3399 Fox 2 and Hound 3 handheld wire and cable tracing kit for finding non-energized, wires has a tone generator with three tones, an inductive tracer with two probes, audio and visual signals, and a filter to help suppress 60 Hz and high-frequency noise. The tracer has an aluminum conical probe for low resistance contact testing, and a conductive plastic duckbill probe for sensitive, non-shorting testing, and safer penetration in cable bundles. The tracer beeps and flashes a red light to indicate magnetic fields, and has a filter to help suppress 60 Hz and high-frequency noise. The tone generator uses a high, low, or warble tone to overcome interference and guide the tracer to wires. The tracer can detect a signal from the tone generator up to 12 inches away. The tracer and tone generator are each cased in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic for strength and light weight. The kit has a one year warranty, and is often used by home remodelers and in the telephone, electrical, and security industries to identify specific cables, trace their path, and find malfunctioning wires.
The tone generator connects to non-energized wires with alligator clips or a wall jack using an RJ-11 plug, and has a 9” cord. The tracer has an ear jack for use with electromagnetic earphones from 8 to 2,000 Ohms, and accepts a 1/8” (3.5 mm) mini-phone plug. Tone generator dimensions are 3.7 x 2.4 x 1.1 inches/93 x 61 x 28 mm (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) Tracer dimensions are 1-7/8" (Diameter) at speaker, 1-3/8" (Diameter) body, 8-1/4" (Length) with metal probe, 9-1/4" (Length) with plastic probe. The tone generator and tracer each operate on one 9V battery (sold separately). The tone generator can operate from a standard telephone line in normal or reverse polarity.
